You can use Aligned’s learning workspace without creating an account. Private notes, saved readings, and drafts stay on your device. Optional community features send the information you choose to share to our community service. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Aligned: AI Safety Community (“Aligned,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Zero Billion, Inc. This policy explains how we handle information in the Aligned iOS app, its community services, and this support website. It does not cover other Zero Billion products or external websites.
Effective and last updated: September 9, 2026. Some development and TestFlight builds provide only the private workspace. Account and shared community processing described below applies when those services are available and you choose to use them.
2. Information we handle
Your private workspace
Reading notes, bookmarks, followed reading sources, learning progress, selected interests, local profile preferences, and unpublished drafts are stored on your device. Offline posts and project drafts remain local until you explicitly submit them to an available community service. Aligned does not upload this private workspace to our servers or automatically synchronize it between devices.
Your device or computer backup may include local app data according to your Apple backup settings. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by Aligned.
Optional accounts and profiles
If you create a community account, our authentication provider processes your email address, sign-in requests, account identifier, session records, and security information. Your email is not displayed on your public profile. We store the profile fields you provide, such as your public name, biography, skills, website, interests, and availability. Public profile fields are visible to other people using the community.
Community contributions
We store the posts, articles, links, replies, projects, and useful votes you submit, together with your account identifier, timestamps, and moderation status. Published contributions are visible to community readers. Submissions awaiting review are available to you and authorized moderators. Do not include information you want to keep confidential in public contributions.
Applications, reports, and blocks
Project applications contain the details you submit and any acceptance or decline decision. They are accessible to the applicant and project owner, and to authorized operators when necessary to maintain the service. Reports contain the reported content reference, your description, account identifier, and timestamp; they are available to you and authorized moderators. Your block list is associated with your account when community services are enabled and is not published as a public profile field.
Support and technical information
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, attachments you choose to send, and our correspondence. When you connect to community services or this website, hosting providers may process technical information such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, response status, and security or error logs needed to deliver and protect the service.
Information we do not request
Aligned does not request access to your contacts, precise location, camera, microphone, photo library, health records, or payment card details. It does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. The app does not process project payments, maintain a wallet, or hold contributor funds.
3. How and why we use information
We use account and contribution information to authenticate you, display your profile and chosen contributions, support discussion and project applications, operate moderation and blocking, respond to support requests, and maintain security. We may use necessary records to investigate abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on performing the service you request, our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure and constructive community, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where applicable. You may withdraw consent for a consent-based use without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
We do not send your private notes or community posts to an AI model, use them to train our models, or make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects. Reading summaries are part of the app’s editorial content. Joining an external research or data project is a separate choice governed by that project’s stated terms.
5. Website cookies and local storage
This static website does not include advertising pixels, analytics scripts, contact forms, or optional tracking cookies. Cloudflare may process technical requests and use necessary security mechanisms to serve the site and prevent abuse. Email support opens your own email application; no message is sent merely by visiting the support page.
6. Retention and account deletion
Local workspace data stays on your device until you erase it or remove the app. To erase it, open Your profile avatar → Settings → Erase local workspace while signed out. Signing out removes your session and account cache but does not erase private reading notes and drafts.
When signed in, use Your profile avatar → Settings → Delete account & data. After you confirm and the request succeeds, we remove your authentication account and its associated profiles, contributions, votes, projects, applications, reports, and blocks from the active community database, and clear this device’s workspace. Deleting a project also removes applications attached to it. Deleting the app alone does not delete a community account.
Account information is retained while your account remains active unless you delete it or we remove it for service or moderation reasons. Support correspondence is kept as needed to resolve the request and maintain necessary records. Technical logs and operational backups follow the provider’s configured retention schedule; deleted records may remain in restricted backups until those backups expire. We do not use retained backups for ordinary community display. Records needed to meet a legal obligation or resolve an active dispute may be retained for that specific purpose.
We cannot erase copies another person independently made, external project records, or Apple/device backups you control. If you cannot access the app or need help with deletion, email support@zerobillion.ai with “Aligned privacy request.” We may ask for proportionate information to verify that the account is yours. Never send a password or sign-in code.
7. Security and international processing
Aligned uses encrypted connections for community requests and stores session credentials in the iOS Keychain. Database access rules limit access to private records, and moderation tools require authorized access. No storage or transmission method provides an absolute security guarantee.
Zero Billion, Inc. is based in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where required for a transfer, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards, such as applicable contractual protections. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You can use the local learning workspace without an account, choose which profile details to provide, keep drafts private, decline to apply to projects, block participants, and delete your account. Following an external writer saves a reading source; it does not contact or notify that writer.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or receive a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain uses, receive it in a portable format, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority. Certain US state laws may also provide rights to appeal a decision about a privacy request and to use an authorized agent. We do not discriminate against you for exercising applicable rights.
To make a request or appeal, contact support@zerobillion.ai. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any legal limitation on a request. Because we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, there is no such sale or sharing to opt out of.
9. Children and young people
Aligned is intended for a general audience interested in AI safety and is not directed to children under 13. Community accounts require at least age 13, or the higher minimum age for independent consent where you live. We do not knowingly collect community account information from children below that minimum. If you believe a child has provided it, contact us so we can investigate and delete it. Paid projects may require users to be adults and meet the project owner’s eligibility rules.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. For material changes, we will provide additional notice through the app or another appropriate channel where required. New uses requiring consent will not begin without that consent.
